A Mundane Morning

Jeremiah walks into the office like any other Monday just wondering where the weekend had gone. He thought to himself "Wow what the heck did I do all weekend! Wasn't it just friday??" He says Good Morning to his coworkers and settles down in his office to continue working on a special project. After an hour or so, his supervisor, Mr.Richards gives him a call and tells him to come into his office to meet the new accountant that would be working on all the accounts for the company.

Jeremiah tells his supervisor that he'll be right in and saves his work before leaving his desk.

As Jeremiah walks into Mr.Richards' office he sees a woman sitting at the desk from behind. "Oh it's a woman" was the first thought that came to his mind.

Mr.Richards looks up and says, "Oh Jeremiah, I’m glad you came in so quickly. I'd like to introduce you to Jolie Foster our new accountant. "

Jolie Foster rises from her chair to turn and greet Jeremiah. Jeremiah takes his first glimpse at Jolie's face and immediately notices her beautiful bright smile, then her amazingly smooth milk chocolate skin and finally rested on her eyes.

He was taken by her beauty and thought "DAMMNNNNNN THANK GOD FOR MONDAY MORNINGS!" LOL

He noticed that what stood before him was one wonderful package from the ends of her newly cut hair to the bottom of her 2 1/2 inch heels. It only took a few seconds to do a once over and he knew instantly that he was attracted to her.

He shakes her hand and says, "Well Ms. Foster it's wonderful to meet you and I welcome you to the company."

Meanwhile what he's really thinking sounds more like "Uh Uh Uh…. Ms. Jolie....I hope we cross paths REAL soon because I wouldn't mind taking your fine self to dinner!"

He releases her hand and they continue to make small talk. After a few minutes, Jeremiah heads back to his office wondering about this woman he just met at work. Monday didn't seem so mundane after all.

So to my readers...I ask you these questions....
Have you ever been in a situation where you've dated a coworker? What was it like?

If someone approached you at work and showed interest or asked you out how would you handle the situation?

How do you feel about dating someone from work whether it's someone from the office you are working in or a "Hottie" from another department/floor??

If you started dating the person how would you precede with the relationship (e.g. keep afterwork affairs afterwork, or tell a fellow cowoker about your new found love.)

Gimme Your Comments!!! I'm nosy about this topic!

love your introductions!!
i think it is inevitable to date a co-worker since we spent so much time there...
i haven't dated anyone from the office....
but i've seen it around me and it leads to MAJOR GOSSIP...especially when they break up!!

there 's this awkward situation right now: M was dating E then they broke up. M started dating V and V and E are friends...so weird...most people didn't know that M and E broke up and kept asking both of them how M or E is doing....

You are a great writer! No I have not dated someone at work. I have seen some situation where the situation of turned out great even after they broke up, but then I have seen some that got down right ugly. So I think it depends on the people involved.

Hey JW, Love your Blog. No, don't think I would date anyone from work. I just see things getting messed up due to gossip so I agree with Amina. I mean, what if you break up. What if it's a bad breakup and that person is there in the office for you to look at every day by the water cooler, when you trying to get supplies... Would be too painful for me.

I also wouldn't want to work with someone I was dating since I kinda like my space. I want to look forward to seeing that person later and not seeing them all day.

Great Post!!

I've dated someone in my industry. It's fun if it works out. Otherwise, not so much.

Dating a coworker has its ups and downs. It's how you take it. The rules you set. Some things can't be avoided, though, like perceptions. What you see isn't always what it is. But once you make a fool out of yourself it's hard to track back.

I think I will avoid those kinds of situations in the future. I'd rather not date someone from work. It's easier on my sanity that way.

I say run for the border! Dating at work can be crazy. As a woman of a certain age I dated a guy in my workplace building. Well I was dating him but he had friends in the building. When the dirt hit the fan I did not want to go to work fearing that I would see him. He always wanted to explain his fall from grace. I decided to never ever date at work again. My friend married her workplace love. Company policy dictates no dating of coworkers. When they really got serious about each other they discussed who would resign to adhere to company policy. He left and now they live happily ever after............

I have never done it but I am not opposed to it if the guy is right for me. I know it may be difficult being around the same person all day but it is good to see the person in a different environment. I wouldn't walk away from the opportunity if the guy was really good for me but it may be a challenge.
great post.

@Amina- I'm happy you like the stories! lol You know you are so right about one thing. You do spend a lot of time at work and it's so easy to get to know someone at work...But Girlllll GOSSIP is the key word when there's love in the work place. See that's why I'd want to avoid that. If I did date someone from work (which I'm so not into lol) it would definately be on the Hush Hush lol

@CC-Thanks I do my best to write something that will get you to the bottom of each post lol. I SO agree that the two people involved will set the tone for the entire "dating at work" adventure!

@Moon-The bad breakup is another reason why I'd have a hard time dating at work. When you break up with someone it helps to not have to see them EVERY SINGLE DAY! Most of the time going to work is a good distraction to what's going on in your personal life.

@Frugalista- I give you a lot of credit for trying it out. I just don't know how I'd feel about seeing the person at work knowing that we had a romantic dinner the night before and I can't seem to stop smiling when he happens to walk by my desk on his way to the elevator lol

@ Jewells- I think setting rules would be a good idea in the beginning...but still very risky business for me...

@Anonymous-SEE SEEE that's the type of drama I'd like to avoid! But then you ended it with a happily ever after story! lol

@PJD- Wow girl I guess if you know the guy is a great catch you'd go for it. I guess seeing the person at work will help you to see more of the person's character and then if you like them you'll find out what they are like outside the job.

Thanks for your comments EVERYONE! I love reading what all of you have to say and thanks for coming back each week to see what's new!
